Obituary for Dorothy Elizabeth McFeetors (Ritzen)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Elizabeth McFeetors (Ritzen) peacefully on July 16, 2022. Daughter, sister, auntie, wife, mother, Nana, and dear friend.

Born in Claresholm Alberta, Dorothy’s ambition set her course to become an airline stewardess, getting notoriety in the Claresholm museum. Having to give up her career when she met the love of her life Melville James “Jim” McFeetors.

They raised three children: Kirsten (Ian), Michael, and David. Then welcoming four Grandchildren: Hannah, Helena, Emmett, and Mia.

As well as a full-time mother, Dorothy worked in retail for Estée Lauder, later utilizing her bookkeeping skills for the North West Company construction division of which she retired from to enjoy her grandchildren and winter vacations with Jim.

Dorothy was a social light, enjoying her bridge group, playing badminton, as well as fundraising dinners and community events.

A sports fan, Dorothy enjoyed the Jets & Bomber (Stampeders) games as well as curling and always took time for the Olympics and academy awards.

After losing Jim in 2014 Dorothy Moved to Dakota house an assisted living facility where she quickly met new friends & embraced a new community, of which she embraced the rest of her life.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Alec (Jean) Ritzen, sister-in-law Mary, as well as Brother-in-law Don (Bonnie) McFeetors, all of her children and grandchildren.

Her quick wit, and contagious laugh will be miss by all that knew her.

Taking comfort in her reunion with Jim, and all her loved ones awaiting her in the afterlife, wishing her a beautiful journey, and thankful for all the happiness she brought to our lives.

A memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coutu Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street.
