Obituary for Doris Lilian Marjorie Grant

Doris Lillian Marjorie Grant

August 23, 1917 ? January 9, 2014

On January 9, 2014 at St. Norbert Personal Care Home, Doris passed away suddenly at the age of 96.

Doris was born in Winnipeg, MB to Winifred and Herbert Chamberlain in 1917 and was the second oldest of five daughters. In 1944 she married the love of her life, Wilkie (Hank) Grant and had two sons. She worked at Eaton?s for many years both before getting married and after. In 1964 Doris and Hank relocated their family to California where she worked at Bullock?s Department Store until her retirement. In 1986 they relocated back to Winnipeg to be closer to family and friends. She enjoyed card games, bowling and bingo and enjoyed the parties and get togethers. Doris was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother and was ecstatic when at the age of 83 her Granddaughter Jayda was born as she was the first baby girl in the family and she gave her much pleasure from regular visits as Doris and Hank had missed being with their twin Grandsons when they were small as they only saw them on their annual visits to Winnipeg during their first seven years.

After the death of her husband Doris moved to Cathedrale Manor where she enjoyed her apartment and the assistance she received until she had to move to St. Norbert Personal Care Home in November of 2013.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Hank in 2008 and her sisters Mildred Wintink and Margaret Kolsar. She is survived by her loving and supportive son?s Richard and Robin (Connie), Sisters June Wintink of California and Ruth Krause, Grandchildren Courtney, Spencer (Gerri), and Jayda as well as Lori and her family together with many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris?s memory to a charity of your choice.

Doris has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

?Rest in peace Mom.?
