Obituary for DENIS BURNS

DENIS BURNS

On December 2, 2019 after battling with cancer Denis Burns peacefully passed away at the age of 74. Denis is survived by his loving wife Denise, his children Kevin and Sean (Donna); grandchildren: Brandin (Kristen), Dylan (Kendra), Tyler and Carter; his brother Raymond (Claire), along with multiple nieces and nephews.  He will also be missed by his extended family Michelle (Myron), Corrine (Ron), Brad (Laurette), Darryll (Cheryl) and special friends. He was predeceased by Donalda (Del) and George Burns.

Denis was born to golf. He spent many sunny, but not windy days, on the golf courses in Winnipeg, Phoenix and Yuma with his wife, family and friends. Two of his proudest moments were representing Manitoba at the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship in 2004 and 2008.

In the past six months Denis had three wishes that he hoped to achieve. He did them all! He spent time at the lake (and out fished everyone there), hit the casino (and won) and he took his wife on a car ride. He will be missed and never forgotten.

His family thanks the Home Care Palliative Program and the staff at the Riverview Palliative Care Unit for their all kindness, compassion and support.

In keeping with Denis’ wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

In his memory donations can be made to Palliative Manitoba.
