It is with great sadness that the family of Cindy Cavanagh announces her passing after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer on January 31, 2021.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 41 years Paul; her son Chris (Tabitha); her daughter Amanda; her cherished grandson Archer; her most loyal snack loving companion Lucas; her mother-in-law Shirley; her sister Sandra; her brother Tim (Shelley) as well as, numerous family and friends.
Cindy spent her childhood in Cobalt and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She met Paul in Sault Ste. Marie and they were married on April 28, 1979. Cindy spent her adulthood in Manitoba with Paul raising their two children, Chris and Amanda. When the children were young, Cindy always enjoyed volunteering in the various activities they were involved in. Cindy often said the best thing she ever did in her life was marrying Paul and raising Chris and Amanda. Her love for them was unmatched.
Cindy loved vacations to Las Vegas with Paul and friends, exploring new places each time they went. She also went on many girls trips with Amanda to the States to shop. She enjoyed going for “coffee”, which often meant going to the casino to play slot machines. Cindy was happiest when surrounded by family, preferably with a hamburger and a cold drink in her hand.
Recently, Cindy enjoyed retirement life, spending time with her grandson Archer and dog Lucas. Archer was the apple of her eye. She loved to show people photos of Archer and proudly proclaim how sweet he is. Cindy spent a lot of time with Lucas. She rescued Lucas and gave him to Paul as a gift, but in the end, Lucas became Cindy’s most loyal companion. They spent a lot of quality time together over the last year and Lucas is missing her dearly. In recent years Cindy was passionate about volunteering with the Winnipeg Cheer Board and was disappointed when she was unable to volunteer this year due to Covid-19.
Cindy will be greatly missed by her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Cindy's honour to the Winnipeg Cheer Board. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff in the Palliative Care Unit in St. Boniface Hospital who took such wonderful care of Cindy.
A celebration of life in honour of Cindy will take place at a later date.
