Obituary for Cecil Cook Blair

CECIL COOK BLAIR

April 1, 1928 -May 5, 2013


With great sadness we announce the passing of Cecil Blair on May 5, 2013.

Cec is survived by his wife Betty, of 59 years, son Alister, daughter Linda Porco (Austin), grandchildren Jonathan and Lauren Blair, Christopher and Kevin Porco and great-grandchildren Madisen Blair and Charlee Blair.

Cec was born in Tillicoultry, Scotland and educated at Dollar Academy. He was a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Cec emigrated to Canada in 1957. He was Internal Auditor at Great West Life for 10 years and Vice President and Treasurer of the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Companies when he retired in 1988.

Always interested in music, he was volunteer organist at Grey Street United and Windsor Park United for many years. Since retirement Cec volunteered at Meadowood Manor and led their Thursday morning sing-along for over 10 years. More recently he was known as “The Piano Man” at his new home at the Waverley. Other interests that kept him busy were gardening, model railways, cooking, wine and beer making.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
