Obituary for Carol Alice Hughes

CAROL ALICE HUGHES

(nee KURTZ)

After a long battle with Parkinson?s, with her family at her side, Carol passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Carol was predeceased by her parents Bill and May Kurtz. Carol is survived by her loving husband Terry, daughters Kim (Barry), Susan Wilson (Dave), grandchildren Ciara and Brett, Dawson and Tanner. As well as, Sharon Harold, Carol?s best friend.


Carol was born on May 2nd 1938 in St. Boniface Hospital and grew up in Norwood. She entered St. Boniface School of Nursing in 1957 and worked in pre-mature nurseries for two years before joining the Manitoba Cancer Clinic as a Radio Therapist were she remained until retiring in 1981.


Over the years Carol enjoyed several hobbies including: Oil painting, ceramics, quilting and bridge. Terry and Carol enjoyed their many years at their cabin at Lake of the Woods as well as, traveling through the US and the Caribbean where they had several wonderful adventures.


The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers at Poseidon Care Centre, and the compassionate care that she received at Victoria Hospital. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to our emergency room Dr. (Dr. Tim Hiebert) and Dr. Munsamy, as well as, Margaret the evening nurse.


In keeping with Carol?s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol, may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one?s choice.
