Obituary for Cameron Joseph Gray Bonham

Cameron Joseph Gray Bonham

June 12, 1976 – June 26, 2019

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Cameron Joseph Gray Bonham on June 26, 2019 in Winnipeg at the age of 43 years old.Cam was born to parents Marnie Yakel and Joseph Bonham. He was a vibrant child with a free spirit. As a young boy he had a love for spider man and as he grew and matured into a teen, he enjoyed the outdoors camping with his family and friends, swimming in lakes and rushing rivers and listening to music. He had many experiences as he became a young adult like going on tour with his youngest brother’s band across Canada as an avid supporter and big fan. He had a love for native traditions that he kept with him throughout his years. He had 2 beautiful children Emily Rose and Atticus Joseph Bonham that he cherished with every breath he took.

As an adult, Cam did not want to be defined by his addictions. He was a handsome, charismatic person with a heart of gold who however like so many, fell into its tight grip. He made several attempts at recovery and had hopes of being an addictions counsellor, a testament to his loving nature and willingness to help others. Without judgement or criticism from his loved ones about his personal journey through his adult life, he has been released to the place of eternal peace and happiness he so deserves.

Cam was predeceased by his father Joseph Bonham, grandparents Edward (Rose) Bonham and Alexander (Florence) Yakel.

Cam is survived by his mother Marnie Cherrie (Yakel), two children Emily Rose and Atticus Joseph, brothers Jordan (Shannon), Davin, Graeme (Sherry), stepfather Gavin Cherrie and nieces Erin, Paige, Grace and Sophia. Many extended aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will all think of him often and hold his memory dear in their hearts forever.

“May you build a ladder to the stars and climb every rung, may you stay forever young.”

We love you and always will.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 9th at 1 pm at E.J. Coutu Funeral Home. The family requests an informal, casual send off for Cam. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted, and full proceeds will go to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre. Donations can also be made online in Cam’s honour at
