Obituary for Barbara-Lynne Ames (Peeler)

BARBARA-LYNNE AMES
(nee PEELER)
June 17, 1942 – June 10, 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara-Lynne Ames on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Riverview Health Centre. Barbara-Lynne was the youngest of the Peeler triplets who were born June 17, 1942 in Kirkland Lake, ON. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon Ames, mother Frances Peeler, triplet Bill Peeler, and oldest brother Mel ‘Skip’ Peeler.
Barbara-Lynne is survived by daughter Alicia Ames (Steve Thomson); daughter Lori-Ann Ames (Paul Scott) and granddaughters Caelan Carrière, and Emily Carrière (Jacob Goodman); honorary daughter Sanjida ‘Sandy’ Sultana (Abdullah Mahfuz) and granddaughter Saira Lynne Kahn. She is also survived by her triplet brother Bob Peeler (Ann), sister-in-law Diane Peeler, cousin Marilyn Lockhart, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends around the world.
Barb was raised in Norwood and attended Nelson McIntyre Collegiate. She graduated from St. Boniface School of Nursing and moved to Philadelphia, PA to work. It was there that Barb married Vern on Feb 11, 1967 and they settled in Cherry Hill, NJ, where they welcomed their two daughters. After Vern’s death, Barb moved back to Winnipeg in 1975, where she lived until her passing.
Barb loved to follow and discuss politics, and watched the news daily to “know what is going on in the world”. In her recent years, she enjoyed doing home improvements, puttering in her yard and garden, and watching her favourite TV show Jeopardy.
In Barb’s words: “I would like to thank all the wonderful people I have met and crossed paths with for helping me have such a full, exciting and wonderful life.” She hopes you will celebrate her life by visiting an elderly person.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at E. J. Coutu & Co. Funeral Directors, 680 Archibald Street, on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
