Obituary for Aurore Marguerite Collette

AURORE COLLETTE

(née DUGUAY)

MARCH 13, 1915 ? DECEMBER 6, 2012

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Thursday, December 6 at Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre).

Aurore was predeceased by her son Léo Junior (1956), her husband Léo (1999), her parents Clémentine (Laberge) and Mastaï Duguay, her brothers: Joseph, Bruno, Raoul, Adrien, Aimé and her sisters Maria and Juliette.

She leaves to treasure her memory her children: Bernard (Carmen), Danielle, Nicole, Michelle Trémorin (André), and Mario (Monelle); her grandchildren: Caroline Westendorf (Jason Turner), Roderick Westendorf (Monique), Chantal and Brigitte Trémorin; Eric, Brianne and Geneviève Collette as well as, her great-grandchildren: Gabrielle and Alex Westendorf and Riley Turner.

All of us will treasure the mementos she handcrafted for us whether with her sewing skills, her knitting needles, or her quilting stitch. She had fingers of gold and could turn a piece of cloth into a work of art. Mom had a flair for décor and as children we will remember the special touch with which she adorned our rooms. She loved her flower gardens and her home always had the scent of a fresh bouquet. Mom was also a great cook. As a children we remember coming home from school on Fridays and even though the aroma of freshly baked goods lured us closer to the kitchen we were told this was for the week. Many a time she entertained family and friends with her culinary skills. Side by side Mom worked with Dad first at l?Epicerie Collette, a local grocer in St-Boniface and later as owners of Del?s Specialty Meats, all the while raising their six children.

Mom always encouraged us in whatever endeavours we chose. She attended all of our activities be it in sports, music, or other and was just as eager and proud to attend her grandchildren?s activities. She was a great Mom and Grandma. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Mom has lived a long life and now has joined Dad, our brother and her family. We will miss her smile, her cooking, her visits, her presence.

Repose en paix Maman.

Our family would like to thank the staff of 2ABC Actionmarguerite (Taché Centre) especially, Monique for the care and compassion they showed Mom during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street.
