It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of August Alexander Newman on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital.
August Alexander Newman (nee Szustygesto), was born April 20, 1949 to Micheal Szustygesto and Irene Delorme. August lived in St. Adolphe, Manitoba with his seven siblings: Lucille (Bob), Grace (Don), Simone (Gilles), Michael, Dennis (Darlene), Darius, and Darrell (Daphne). August later relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba and created a life with his former wife Rolande Lafantaisie and their three children: Sandra (Tom), Randall (Lisa), and Mark (Tammy). August was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren: Jesse (Kendra), Julia (Owen), Drake, Landon, Rachel, and Sophia. August also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends all over Manitoba. Over the years, August met a few special individuals to whom he shared his life with and spent the remaining seven years with his final love, Melody Mccaughan.
August is fondly remembered for his friendly and easy-going nature, his self-determination as an independent employer/contractor, and his strength and fortitude in facing any challenge head on. August spent years playing shuffleboard, being an active member of the Royal Canadian legion, and playing the game of golf with his sons, former partners, and close buddies. August had many stories to share throughout his years relating to times spent in Alberta, St. Adolphe, La Rochelle, St. Malo, various golf courses, holiday trips, and adventures.

We thank you for your kind words and wishes, and regret that we could not have August’s/Dad’s funeral at this time (due to the restrictions set from Covid-19). Cremation has taken place and arrangements will resume when the Government of Manitoba deems it safe to gather in large numbers. We, the family, invite you to share your special memories of August Alexander Newman on the E.J. Coutu Website. August/Dad would have loved to hear your stories, especially since his motto was, ‘I am going to live until I die.”
