Obituary for Audrey Mary Wilson (Marshall)
AUDREY MARY WILSON
With sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Audrey Mary Wilson (nee Marshall) on November 30, 2020. Audrey was born July 17, 1940 to Douglas Scott and Lena May Marshall of Ninga, Manitoba. Audrey attended school in Ninga and nearby Boissevain followed by the University of Manitoba, earning a BScHEc in 1961 and then furthering her education to serve as a Professional Dietician.
She married Floyd Wilson in 1966 and they spent time living in Sabah Malaysia, Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, AB. and Winnipeg. Along the way, the family grew to include children Duane, Marla and Brenda. When the opportunity to return to Manitoba arose, it gave Audrey and all of us the chance to come “home” and spend more time with the family that Audrey and Floyd had left to build their lives together.
Audrey was predeceased by daughter Brenda in 2019, but lives on in the memory of her husband of 54 years, Floyd, and their children: Duane and spouse Anita with grandchildren Nathan, Jonah and Lucas; Marla Baldwin and spouse Casey, and son-in-law Sean Braun and grandson Connor; as well as her brother Keith and spouse Maureen.
Professionally trained as a dietician and having won awards for sewing as an active 4-H participant, Audrey selflessly applied those skills to look after the needs of a busy family as it grew, grew up and eventually outgrew the family home. Audrey and Floyd provided us all with a safe place to grow up, never worrying about having clothes on our back or food in our bellies in an atmosphere of enablement, not entitlement. She inherited a determined character, strong work ethic and an ability to appreciate the simple things in life.
In her later years, Audrey suffered from the debilitating effects of Multiple Sclerosis, which resulted in a transition to assisted living in the Seine River Residence. We are all grateful and appreciative of their staff, and Home Care.
A private ceremony will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, an act of greatness in the form of a donation to the MS Society, the Boissevain-Morton Foundation or a charity of personal preference would be appreciated.
