Obituary for Arthur Ernest Joseph "Art" Aquin

ARTHUR ERNEST JOSEPH AQUIN

On Friday, May 1, 2015, at the age of 82 years, Art made his final journey to Heaven, his wishes fulfilled; peacefully and without pain.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Ida, his children, Paul (Cheryl Cain), Karen (Bill Friesen) and Mark (Ileana Bylyna). He will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren – his pride and joy: Meghan, Jordan, Matthew, Trevor, Joshua and Natasha. His three sisters, Delima Beaudry, Louise Cournoyer and Florence Carriere, as well as, two brothers, Robert and Jules.

Art was predeceased by his parents, Zephirin and Angeline, sisters, Arcelie Gratton, Rose Marie Landry, Vernette Bourgeois and brother, George Aquin.

Art worked several jobs during his younger years. In 1960 he was employed as a custodian for Norwood School Division that later amalgamated with St. Boniface and St. Vital, eventually becoming Louis Riel School Division. He worked there for 35 years and retired in 1998. Since then he enjoyed being at home, going for walks and riding his bike.

In keeping with Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street with Father Peter Genger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Art may be made to Holy Family Parish Building Fund, Siloam Mission or to a charity of your choice and would be greatly appreciated.
