Obituary for Arline Young

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, grandma and great grandmother. At the age of 82, she passed away in her sleep after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Arline will be lovingly remember by her husband of 61 years,Tom; her son Bruce (Wanda); daughter Cathy (Georges); grandchildren, Braeden, Caston, Deanna (Chris), Evan (Shany), and great-granddaughter Inara. She will also be greatly missed by her brother Harry (Yvonne); sister’s in-laws Gladys, Shelagh, and Margaret (Ken); and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Irene and Albert Miller.

Arline was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Weston, attending Cecil Rhodes and Tec Voc Schools. On September 14, 1957 she married the love of her life Tom. While raising her family, mom worked several part time and full time jobs. Prior to her retirement in 1996 she worked for Child and Family Services. Mom was the heartbeat of our family and home.  She will be remembered as a kind, considerate and loving person who was always there for her family and friends.  Over the last many years Arline was an active member and volunteer at Windsor Park United Church.  Our family would like to give a special thank you to the Palliative Care Program and the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Region (mom was a volunteer for over 30 years), or the ALS Society of Manitoba.  Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
