Obituary for Antonius 'Tony' Willebrordus Bakker

ANTONIUS WILLEBRORDUS BAKKER

January 17, 1930 ? December 11, 2012

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather after a lengthy and courageous battle with leukemia.

He leaves to mourn his wife and best friend of 58 years, Johanna, son Robert (Marie), daughters Anita (Neil), Shirley (Gerald) and Linda (Darren) and grandchildren Meaghen, Laura, Briana (Michael), Amber, Kara, Mathew, Eric, Emily, Jenna and Justin. He is also survived by two sisters, Truus and Thea.

Tony was born in Amsterdam and immigrated to Canada in 1950. He worked for Goodall Photo from 1952, purchased the company in 1985 and continued to operate it after retirement as a mail order business. Photography held a special place in his heart and while he was a photofinishing specialist he also enjoyed working behind the camera taking children?s portraits and wedding photographs. Tony counted among his hobbies, a passion for woodworking, electronics, inventing and wine and bread making. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed working with modern technology; converting old photographs and home movies to disks and keeping up with the news on his iPad.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg.
