Obituary for Antonio DiMartino

ANTONIO DIMARTINO

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father and nonno, Antonio on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Antonio will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Nicoletta and Liliana; cherished granddaughters, Tiana and Liana. He also leaves behind: brother, Aldo (Lucia), sisters-in-law, Filomena, Angela, special friend Anita, many nieces, nephews, family and friends in Winnipeg, Italy and Australia.

Antonio was predeceased by his loving wife, Fedora; his parents, Donato and Raffaella; son-in-law, George; brothers, Oscar, Vittorio, Ettore, sister Maria; brother-in-law, Federico and sister-in-law Giuseppina.

Dad was born in Casalbordino, Italy, May 10, 1934. He came to Canada in 1957 soon followed by his bride-to-be, Fedora. Dad worked in the construction industry for many years before eventually retiring from Motor Coach Industries. He worked hard throughout his career to ensure that his family would enjoy a better life with every advantage. Anyone who knew our dad would attest to his passion for gardening. He spent many hours on perfecting his “tomato plants” which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Sundays were always his favourite day of the week as he looked forward to enjoying family meals and spending time with his precious granddaughters.

We will always love and miss you and the infectious smile you were known for.

We would like to sincerely thank the staff at West Park Manor for all their kindness and compassion while caring for our dad in his final years.

Condolences will be received at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private funeral mass will be held with Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made in Antonio’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Those who are unable to attend may view the funeral by going to youtube.com and searching ‘Antonio DiMartino Funeral’.
