Obituary for Annie Nimchuk

ANNIE NIMCHUK

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Annie (Ann) Nimchuk on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital.

Ann was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan on November 4, 1930. The family moved to a farm near Birch River, Manitoba where she attended school, and in 1943 moved to Winnipeg where she worked for Perth?s. It was in Winnipeg that she met her future husband Walter (Wally) Nimchuk, and they were married on September 5, 1953. Shortly before starting their family they moved into the Dorothy Block on Hargrave as the caretakers and for several years looked after an extended family of residents until they moved to their home in St. Boniface. Ann and Wally raised four boys Warren, Darren, Arlen and Shelden, and Annie took great pride in their backyard gardens and fruit trees. She was especially fond of her grandchildren Victoria and Cassandra, Alina and Nicholas, and Emma and Mona, and was always the first one to send out birthday greetings.

Ann is survived by her husband Wally, their four boys, her sisters Mary, Ada, Alice, Pauline and her brother Nick.

In keeping with Ann?s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Ann may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Wpg., MB R3C 4G2, or to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Wpg., MB R3E 0V9.
