Obituary for Anita Perron

.

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we share the passing of Anita Marguerite Perron, age 78. She passed away on March 14, 2024, after her battle with dementia. She was loved, she was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a trusted and loyal friend to many.

Mom is joining dad (Ron); her parents Yves and Therese Rocan; and her brothers Roger and Yvan, in Heaven. Mom leaves to mourn her 4 children Kim (Keith), Jeffrey, Jocelyn (Laura), and Joel. Memere also leaves to mourn her grandchildren Daniel, Roxanne (Dalain), Travis, Alysha (Adam), Brendyn (Jana), Julia, and Harmony; and great grandchildren Jace, Alex, Zach, Wyatt, Averie, and Kali; her dog Babe, and so many friends around the globe.

Anita grew up in Somerset Manitoba. She left Somerset to attend CUSB where she met Ron and her life changed forever. Anita married her soulmate in August 1965, and they moved to St-Jean Baptiste where they began their teaching careers. While teaching in St-Jean and raising 4 children, Anita earned her Bachelor of Education. She became principal of Heritage School in St Pierre in 1994 and remained principal there until her retirement.
Ron and Anita found a lot at Buffalo Point where the family built a cabin and created decades of memories. Here, Anita fed the wildlife, joined a book club, became involved in the community, and enjoyed life immensely. Anita re-entered the teaching world and became a substitute teacher in Sprague, spreading her wisdom and kindness to another corner of our province.

Anita made so many friendships through her education career and through all her travels. She was a very social person and would make friendships everywhere she went. Ixtapa became her favourite destination where she spent numerous winters with Ron, friends, and family.

Throughout her entire journey, Anita was funny and fun to be with. She had a great ability to make others smile and feel good about themselves. Her kindness will be missed.

In her spare time, Anita loved to read. She loved to share her knowledge. Anita’s vision in education transformed so many lives. Her legacy will live on through her thousand teachings and in the ripples of her random acts of kindness. Anita’s love for family was very well known and her love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. She sacrificed heroically and she gave endlessly. Her memory will live forever in all the stories we will continue to share. Anita was the most gentle, loving, affectionate, funny, smart, amazing sweet lady – and she will be missed fiercely.
