Obituary for Albini Patrick Joseph "Al" Marcoux

Albini (Al) Patrick Joseph Marcoux

After a life full of love and generosity, Albini passed away peacefully with family at his side on January 30, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg Manitoba. Born on December 8, 1940 in Lorette, Manitoba he was the son of George and Annie Marcoux who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Marcoux (Berthelette) and their two children, his daughter Lisa (Darryl) Antymniuk and son Brian (Catherine) Marcoux, his six grandchildren Zachery (Kimmy) Marcoux, Tyler Marcoux, Devin Antymniuk, Amanda Antymniuk, Samantha and Alyssa Olivier, his two great-grandchildren Kenzie and Chance, his brother Guy (Shirley) Marcoux, sisters Anita (Jack) Fulmore, Maryse (Jean-Paul) Olivier, Georgette (Smoky) Ferland, Lorraine (Bob) Blunden, Dianne (Adelard) Faucher, Gertrude (Roger) Gauthier, brothers-in-law Richard (Denise) Berthelette, Patrick (Barb) Berthelette, sisters-in-law Mary-Jane (frank) Chanowski, Florence (Earl) Kehler, Patricia Barrett and also many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Albini was also predeceased by his brother Adolphe, his sisters Denise (Eugene) Vouriot, Leona (Ray) Brant, Priscilla (Michel) Chaudouet, brothers-in-law Gerald Berthelette, Ivan Berthelette, sister-in-law Margaret Rollness, other nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Albini proposed to the love of his life on their third date and were officially engaged after three months. They were married after only a six month engagement. For 47 years their love has endured. Albini’s love for Shirley was so great that after days in a coma he awoke to kiss her goodbye. Albini enjoyed any activity that involved family and friends. After his retirement from Safeway Canada he started work as a bus monitor for First Bus, which gave him great joy helping his clients.

Albini (Papa) loved the time he could spend with his grandkids. Whether it was swimming or going to The Forks, he loved to treat them. Later he would cheat them in a friendly game of golf. For many years he supported them and their love of sport by being the ultimate fan. Rain or shine, regardless of his own discomfort he was there. His love and support as a caring father and grandfather will be missed. The gift he has given is the standard he has set. Now we only have to live up to it.

Special thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion, especially his favorites, Nurse (do it all) Paul and Nurse’s Aide Barbara, on 3E.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

In keeping with Albini’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary’s Road.

Little we knew that morning

God was to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

You did not go alone.

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,

Your love is still our guide.

And though we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

Our Family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same.

But as God calls us one by one,

The chain will link again.
