Obituary for Albert Edward "Ted" Jerome

ALBERT EDWARD (TED) JEROME


Suddenly on the morning of July 28, 2013 at home Albert Edward (Ted) Jerome passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years with his wife at his side.


He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Lorraine, of 53 years, daughter Jeannie Wong (Peter), son Ron Jerome (Teryl) and daughter Lisa Jerome (Mike). He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren Jaida, Cyrena and Kara (Ron and Teryl?s), Kayden (Lisa and Mike?s) and great-grandchildren Dominic, Kyla, Alyssa and Ryder (Jaida?s) and Micheal (Cyrena?s), as well as his brother, Les and his family.


He was predeceased by his parents, Elydia and Ernest Jerome.


Ted was born in Winnipeg on January 14, 1930. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in Mechanical Engineering and met the love of his life, Lorraine, in 1955 where they both worked at Vulcon Iron and Engineering. They got married on Halloween, October 31, 1959 in St. Ignatius Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They were soon busy with their growing family. Ted loved everything outdoors including: camping, boating, fishing and the cottage he built for his family at Lee River. Being an excellent engineer and a very capable craftsman his family?s cottage was one of the nicest in its? area and Ted and his family enjoyed the cabin for 31 years.


Ted retired from Manitoba Hydro after 20 years of service in 1993 and enjoyed 20 years of retirement.


A funeral service celebrating Ted?s life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 315 Munroe Avenue (corner of Brazier and Munroe) with viewing half an hour prior to the service. Reception will follow the service in the church hall with burial afterwards at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.


We would like to thank his family doctor, Dr. Harvey Lee, Winnipeg Fire Department and Paramedics and the staff at Concordia Hospital.


In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ted may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Manitoba Division.
