Obituary for Agnes Alice Pauwelyn (Catrysse)

AGNES PAUWELYN
(nee CATRYSSE)

Born May 9, 1936; on November 24, 2022, Agnes died peacefully, with family at her side. Born in Poelkapelle Belgium, she immigrated in 1951 with her family, arriving in New York before settling in Stonewall, Manitoba.

Fierce in her love for family, Agnes was predeceased by her husband Marcel, parents Richard and Julia, her siblings Janet (Walter), Jerry, Gorgette, Daniel, and her beloved son Gilbert. She is survived by her children David (Amy), Diane (Dave), Tracy (Mark), Dawn (Marcel) and her grandchildren Coral, Rachel, Leah, Mary, Seth, Jordan and Hillary as well as her sister Yvonne (Conrad) and brother Noel (Darlene).

Modest in her talents, she was an accomplished cross-stitcher and seamstress. She was forever reading and learning; books on nutrition were a particular passion. A regular at the gym - European Health Spa then the Y, in her later years she exercised daily at home on her treadmill or bike.

A dog lover, our first dog, Spot, loved her most, not only because she brought him Chicken Delight leftovers in her purse. Her last dog, Lila, worshipped her, stealing her slippers for comfort when Agnes went anywhere.

Thank you to everyone at Cathedral Manor and Concordia Hospital for the lovely care. We also want to extend our love and gratitude to everyone around her home on Beechwood Place, for your community generosity. Stopping for a chat, offering to walk or play with Lila, fixing her computer and the many other kind acts made life in her home of 56 years so very much better.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023 at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

For those who were unable to attend, a recording of the service may be viewed by selecting the link below or going to the 'Photos & Videos' tab at the top of the page and selecting 'Watch Webcast'.

n lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Winnipeg Harvest.

In times of darkness, love sees...
In times of silence, love hears...
In times of doubt, love hopes...
In times of sorrow, love heals...
And in all times, love remembers.
May time soften the pain
Until all that remains
Is the warmth of the memories
And the love.
