Obituary for Agathe Marie Blanche Kruger

AGATHE MARIE BLANCHE KRUGER

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Agathe Marie Blanche Kruger (nee Asselin). Agathe went to meet her husband Al Thursday, October 4, 2012 peacefully at Foyer Valade where she had been a resident for the past few years.

Agathe was born August 13, 1928 in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba. Agathe was predeceased by her loving husband Al (William) in 1983, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Left to mourn is her sister, Doreen.

Agathe is survived by her three children Wayne (Lou), Diana-Lynn, Darrin (Jeannine), Six grandchildren, (Randy, Cary, Rodney, Sherri-Lynn, Justin and Sarah) and six Great-Granddaughters.

Agathe?s earlier years had many good times and memories. She loved to talk about the crazy antics of her brothers and how much fun they had when the gang got together. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and many nights were spent playing cards, laughing and dancing the nights away.

Agathe worked at Eaton?s for many years raising her two oldest children as a single parent. In 1960 she met the love of her life Al Kruger and together they had a son. These years were spent enjoying the summers at Bird River, fishing, cheering at the local hockey arena and spending time with family and friends. She spent many hours tending to her garden and flowers and found great satisfaction in this activity.

Agathe was a very proud woman and was always impeccably dressed. Many compliments were made on how well put together she was at all times.

Agathe was famous for her date squares and macaroni casserole. Her family and neighbours were always around to help devour them up. She spent many hours in her early years crocheting afghans and many will forever cherish the ones she gave to them.

In her quiet and subtle way Agathe was very charitable.

She did not boast of her kind acts but people who had very little were surprised to see ?anonymous? gift cards or groceries left at their door during the holiday season

Agathe?s final years were spent at Foyer Valade and although these years were not as bright as earlier in her life, she was well cared for by the staff. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for the care, kindness and dignity that was bestowed upon their mother.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

The family request in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Agathe?s honour to The Alzheimer?s Society of Manitoba.
