Obituary for Agathe Deroche

AGATHE A.M. DEROCHE

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Agathe Deroche (nee Kolly) on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the age of 87.

Mom was born on November 12, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband George on January 9, 1996, by her parents, Antonie and Joseph Kolly, and her eldest brother, Raymond. She is survived by children, Claude (Brenda), Rose Marie (Al) and Gerald (MaryAnn); her five grandchildren, Ryan, Nyssa, Taryn, Carla (Colin) (great-grandchildren, Maëlle, Grayson and Bennett), Kelsey (Ryan) (great-grandchildren, Ava and Leah); her sisters, Annette (Armand), Marie (Norbert), Elisa (Henri) and brother, Adrien (Rose), her sister-in-law, Clotilde and her brother-in-law, Robert (Therese) along with many nieces, nephews and long-time friends.

Mom was born and raised in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba to loving and nurturing parents in a large family of seven. She married Dad in 1953. She had known him all his life at school and they were married in their mid 20’s. Mom had worked on the family farm and in her hometown grocery store.

Mom loved working and had many jobs over the years and loved working with the public. She was adamant that it was important to have a good work ethic, social skills, good habits and manners, something we were all influenced by.

Our mother was the world’s best mom and loved her children fiercely. Dad’s employ had been in the Armed Forces which required many moves and challenges. She was a model to her children with her steadfast love and principled character. She was there for all her children’s joys and sorrows, the birthdays, graduations and weddings as well as through sad times.

After Mom and Dad retired they enjoyed 13 wonderful years as snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona. It became Mom’s true second home because of the friends she and Dad had made there.

Mom’s last years were spent as a resident of Foyer Valade nursing home. We heartfully thank all those who worked at Foyer Valade over the years who took such excellent care of our mother. You all truly made it a home for her.

We love you Mom and know

that you are now free

and happy with God

and that your Spirit will be

with us for all time.

~Until we meet again.

Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held later in the spring at St. Boniface Cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully declined, please consider a donation in Mom’s memory to Actionmarguerite Inc. St. Vital, (Foyer Valade), 450 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4.
