Obituary for Aganetha "Nettie" Bruce
AGANETHA (NETTIE) BRUCE
October 6, 1925 – October 24, 2021
Aganetha (Nettie) Bruce peacefully passed away in the early morning of October 24, 2021, at the age of 96.
Predeceased by her first husband Arthur Rear in 1990; her second husband and the love of her life, Pat Bruce in 2005; and her son Phillip in 1950.
To mourn her passing, she leaves behind her last living brother, Benny Sawatsky (Eleene
),her best friend and sister-in-law Leona Sawatsky; her seven children: Carole Dupuis (Rheal), Reg Rear (Rena), Bill Rear, Lorne Rear (Teri), Tammy Levandoski (Glen Birnie), Pamela Schaitel and Gary Rear (Kim Klassen), in addition to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nettie was born in Blumenfeld, Manitoba on October 6, 1925 to Peter and Justina Sawatsky. She was the seventh child of 11. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of 18 years from Richer, Manitoba where she began her adult life and her family. Nettie looked forward to phone calls from her children and grandchildren, especially during COVID-19 when she was unable to see most of her relatives.
We will be forever grateful to Dr. Ball and all the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their patience and unwavering care of Mom during her stay with them.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agathena’s memory to Golden Links Lodge.
Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held by family.
A private family Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Please contact family directly for more information.
