ADRIANUS VENDERBOS

On August 26, 2021, Adrianus passed away surrounded by family at the age of 95.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Johanna, of 73 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his seven children, Nell O’Grady (Bob), Gerry, Dirk (Blanche), Andre (Runie), Roy (Wendy), Jeff (Liz), Marianne Bouvette (Rob); sister Gerrie Quakernaat; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as many dear friends and relatives.

Born in Gorinchem, Holland on May 25, 1926. Growing up as a teenager during the war Dad had a lot of interesting stories. One was how he avoided the Nazis by living with a family on a small farm with the help of the Dutch Underground.

After the war, he met the love of his life Johanna Bronk and they married in March 1947. In 1956 with three children, they emigrated to Canada, four more children would follow.

Dad worked many jobs in Winnipeg, orderly at St. Boniface Hospital, The Winnipeg Inn, Benny’s Deli in the concourse were just a few.

Dad, a proud Dutchman joined the Dutch Club and volunteered at the Dutch Pavilion singing, dancing, kleppering, puppet show, harmonica with Mom on stage were some of the things he loved to do. He also served as the Ambassador for the Dutch Pavilion with Mom for one year.

Dad’s love for Holland was strong, going back many times to visit friends and family. Dad’s favourite times were family gatherings when everyone was together.

Dad passed with the same strength and humour that he lived his life. Mom and Dad’s ashes will be spread together.

A Celebration of Life with friends and family will be held at a later date.
