Margaret Mary Guertin
Wearing her best lipstick, Margaret peacefully left us to join her beloved husband Ed, on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Boniface Hospital. Loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend to many, her positive outlook and optimism were truly inspiring and will be deeply missed.
She will be fondly remembered by her brother, Odeil, her son Michael and wife Lynne, grandsons, Samuel and Dominic and her daughter Monique and husband Pierre Lemieux.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leon Dusessoy and Germaine Dusessoy (née Lannoo), husband Edmond Guertin, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Yvette Manness and Doreen Dusessoy.
Margaret was a woman of many talents; phenomenal cook, astute bookkeeper, avid gardener, above average golfer, skilled fisherwoman, gifted wood carver, meticulous knitter, and passionate about crosswords. To many, she was a mentor, advisor, travel companion, a plus one on many occasions, fashion consultant, crossword partner, and best of all, a confidant. She was admired for her sophistication, intelligence, youthful outlook, artistic ability, graciousness, willingness to go anywhere and do anything at a moment’s notice, and last but not least, her ability to tell a good joke. She was very special in so many ways, and we all treasured our time together, especially the past 3 years as they have not been without difficulty. She endured a tragic physical insult which thankfully, due to the help and support of her loving “wellness” team, family and friends, was able to live with her disability in the comfort of her home while retaining as much of her dignity as possible.
The memory of those special times with her will always keep Margaret alive and vital in our minds and in our hearts. She is now free of her physical limitations, pain and suffering that she so bravely dealt with.
Rest In peace dearest mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
We know that you will always be with us.
The family would like to give special thanks to all those who extended their support and care during the past three years, most especially her caregivers (our extended family) Hermie and Drissia, her dear friend, Pat, and physician, Dr. Lee Cummings.
Funeral mass celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Parish of St. Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Rd, Winnipeg.
