Lesley Clendenan of Winnipeg MB., passed away peacefully at the age of 85, after an extended stay at the Deer Lodge Centre.

Mom was born in Winnipeg, graduating from Kelvin High School. Mom married the love of her life, D’Arcy in April 1954. Together they raised their family, living in Winnipeg, most of their married life. Mom devoted her time through these years making sure she provided a warm and caring environment for her husband and children. Her family and all who knew her marvelled at her exceptional meals and baking prowess. Mom excelled at sewing and her talent was admired by all who knew her and most importantly her grateful family.
In her leisure time through the years, Mom enjoyed her weekly bowling leagues, yoga sessions and her Sunday after dinner Scrabble challenge with her Mother. Mom especially loved the game of Bridge, cherishing all the social fun the game would provide with her very close friends through the many years. Mom loved books and found much pleasure in the read of a good book. Mom also volunteered her time canvassing for causes such as CancerCare and Diabetes Canada.
Much later in life, as her children moved to their own homes, Mom ventured back into the work force, employed at Eaton’s where she stayed for several years until her retirement in the early nineties.
Mom’s gentle demeanor and sharp mind never went unnoticed. She continued to learn new things, through the years as society changed. In her last months of life, many of her caregivers often remarked how gentle, kind and appreciative of their care, she was. Mom knew their names right until the very end of her life.
The family would like to thank the team of Health Care Providers at the Deer Lodge Centre. Your care, comfort and compassion provided to our Mother was very much appreciated.
Following Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A family get together celebrating Lesley’s life and her husband D’Arcy will take place on May 24, 2019 at the Viscount Gort at 3:00 p.m.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Lesley may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg MB. R3J 0L3.
