Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

GUY FOURNIER

On July 4, 2019 at the age of 76 after a lengthy illness we lost Guy, our Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Brother.

He will be missed and remembered by his wife Cecile (née Cyr) of 54 years, his sons, Roland (Pete) and Daniel (Christine), six grandchildren, André (Brandi), Denise (Devon), Robyn (Diane), Angela, Alyssa and Janelle (Ryan), seven great-grandchildren, Colbie, Landon, Daniel, Kaylee, Aubree, Beau and Rémi, sisters Jeanne Gendron, Cecile (Clement) Bisson, Irène Fournier and Hélène (Napoléon) Langelier, numerous nephews and nieces and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, siblings, Louis, Annette, Henri, Rita, Paul, Simone, Yvonne, Raymond, Lucille.

Guy was raised in La Broquerie. After high school he started a 35-year career with Manitoba Hydro. After retiring from Hydro, he worked with RV Anderson installing fibre optic lines across Canada along with his brothers. He was always involved in each community the family stationed in. Hockey and baseball also ran through his veins whether it was playing, watching or voicing his opinions on plays. The nature of his jobs took his family to many different places. He enjoyed travelling overseas and in their trailer across North America. He loved spending time at the lake with family and friends fishing, making new memories or reminiscing about the good old days. Known to his grandchildren as Pépère and Grandpa, he treasured them and was very active in their lives. He was most proud of all their accomplishments. His family was his life.

A funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Sainte Famille, 778 Archibald St.

A special THANK YOU to CancerCare, St. Boniface Emergency and E6 staff and doctors for the great care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V9.

We will always remember the good times we had at Poplar Bay when we visited with Roy and Carmelle and you either came to their trailer, or we went to yours. The “few” beers we had together always seemed to taste a little better when you were around. There were also the times when you came and helped with the many projects at Roy’s trailer. The help was much appreciated. We’ll miss you. Rest In Peace my friend.

Oncle Guy loved joking around and teasing people. For example, he convinced me as a child he suffered from an ailment called “la peau courte” (“short skin disease”), explaining that when he closes his eyes, his toes curl. He was very convincing! Thoughts are with tante Cécile, Roland, Daniel and family. He will be missed!

    Rollie, Pete and family,
Mes pensées sont avec vous pendant ces moments difficiles….
Always enjoyed a good conversation and sharing a few laughs whenever Guy and I would meet whether it be at the hockey rink or baseball diamond when our kids played sports together.
    Repose en paix Guy.

    Dear Cecile & Family,
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Guy was a wonderful man — a true friend and one of Earth’s finest. Our times with you at Poplar Bay were some of our fondest (& funniest – Guy’s laugh was infectious!!), and our first ventures into trailer-park-life were all the better because of Guy’s help and friendship. He is missed. Doug & Jody
