Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

April 12, 1927 – March 6, 2019

D’Arcy Clendenan of Winnipeg, MB, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after a short stay in the Deer Lodge Centre.  D’Arcy was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Cora Clendenan and his brother Lynn. Left to carry forward fond memories of D’Arcy are his wife Lesley and their three children Jeffrey (Barb) Clendenan, Linda (Jim) Topping, Michael (Nicole) Clendenan; his grandchildren: Laura and Lindsay (Patrick) Clendenan, Jennifer, Mike and Kristi (Alex) Topping; and his great-granddaughter Abigail Beauchamp, plus many close family and special friends he shared his life with.

Dad was born in Maryfield, SK, moving to Winnipeg shortly thereafter.  Dad graduated from Kelvin High School in 1945, Dad was a good student, excelling in math which provided him with an avenue into the Banking and Finance world. In his career, Dad worked in a variety of financial institutions including Traders, United Dominion, CIBC and ending his career as the Branch Manager for Hansa Credit Union, in the late 1990s.

Through the introduction by his lifelong friend, Ward Brandow, Dad met the love of his life and wife of 64 years Lesley Brandow. They married in 1954. Together they grew their family in Winnipeg, with a short time in Brandon, MB, where they welcomed their third child Michael, in 1962.  In 1966 they moved back to Winnipeg, purchasing a home on Cordova Street, living there until all the children left the nest.

Dad very much enjoyed the gathering of the clan in their Cordova Street home, especially to celebrate the numerous June family birthdays.  On these occasions, Dad was the master griller and proud of his accomplishments.  Dad also loved spending time at Victoria Beach with his brother Lynn and family, especially the annual August long weekend extended Family get together.  One memory holds firm for his children, nephews and grandchildren is early morning oranges on the rocks with Dad.  Throughout his life, Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing at the Charleswood Golf Club.  Also fondly remembered were the great times spent with the late-night mixed bridge club, be it gathered together at each others homes or the annual Lake windup.

Once retired, Dad and Mom could be seen walking daily in Assiniboine Park, trekking many kilometeres. These daily outings lasted for numerous years until health and ailments prevented them from doing so.

The family would like to sincerely thank Arlis and his team of Nurses and Health Care Aids on Tower 3 North at the Deer Lodge Centre. Your care, comfort and compassion provided to our Dad in the last few months was so very much appreciated.

Following Dads wishes, cremation has taken place.  A family get together celebrating Dad, will take place in the spring.

If friends so desire, donations in memory of Dad may be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
